The Playset

Alright, so here's the awesome playset Daddy built for the kids. There are the 3 swings and one you can't see in this picture that is like a disc swing. The sand table was our idea to add on, we wanted it up off the ground and covered by the deck overhead. It actually was a great spot for 2 months, but then as you can see in the picture, it became more fun to empty the sand everywhere. We have decided to wait a few weeks to refill it. It is still a bit of a work in progress, we have to add the slide, a small deck and bench on the bottom level. Grandparents and great grandparents pitched in at Christmas for this gift and it is used every day for as long as the kids are allowed to be outside. They love it!

We wanted to put a disclaimer in our blog about our children's dress. If you look back at our pictures closely you'll notice some very creative outfits being modeled by the kids, especially Makayla. She has been very opinionated about dress since she was about 18 months old. I make them wear nice matching clothes to go out in public, but as soon as they enter the house they are out of them and adorn themselves in quite interesting attire. Gavyn currently loves pajamas and white, or they used to be white, undershirts. Makayla is going for more of a layered look as of late. Bryton still wears whatever we put on him, he just has it filthy within minutes of being dressed. Bryan likes to be a kid as well, his attire consists of nasty Dickie work shorts and disgusting tee shirts. Oh well, at least they have fun, we have great memories and in public we can at least appear clean.

(Bryan wants me to explain that he dresses like that for work days. Tile is quite messy and he cleans up nice. Real nice ;-) !!!)

I love the playset! Jon and I have been talking about building one to go in our backyard for the kids. I think this will give Jon a little more inspiration.

GREAT playset- Can you come and build one for my kids? :) Amanda, we have the same "clothing issues" with my little girls. Thy tend to choose a given motif for the day- for instance, Ellie, our 3 year old will decide that she wants to wear stripes. She'll choose a striped shirt, striped pants, striped underwear and striped socks, all of which will be in horribly clashing colors. If you say, "Ellie, you don't match", she says (with hands on hips) "Daddy, yes I do match. I'm wearing all stripes." How do you argue with that? By the way, it still feels weird to call you anything other than Sis. Shields.

That is such a fun playset! I bet your children never want to come inside! (And they always look adorable...in whatever they are wearing!) :)

Bryan the playset kicks you know what. Can you build one inside a- snow, ice, freezing rain, bitter cold-protective sheild. That would be great! For now I guess my kids will just stay trapped inside for 5 months of the year. Gotta love Canada!
