Our Bald Eagle Family

Since we moved into our house over three years ago now, we have had the privilege and wonder of watching a family of bald eagles. I saw them the first time flying up to a tree with a huge stick in their talons and we realized they were building a nest. The nest has continued to grow larger and larger each year. Bald Eagles mate for life and return to their nest each year to have their babies. Each year we have seen them at least a few times and always look up when we drive by to see if they are back in town.

This year has been the best by far, we have seen them almost daily, then we got a view of their two babies flapping their wings, practicing. Then we got to see the babies flying....Did you know that 40% of eaglets don't survive their first flight? These did and we've gotten to see them soaring around.

Then last Sunday on our way home from church we spied this Awesome sight. Both eagles perched on limbs beside their nest and one of the eaglets soared by one time and another full grown Eagle came by at another time. We wondered if this is perhaps one of their other children from years past. God's creations are so beautiful and inspiring.
