I have run home from the hospital again and thought I would do a little post on here for those who don't facebook.
Last Monday, we took Bryan to an urgent care center to check out a lump we had discovered a week before when we had a bout with food poisoning. We were told the lump was his enlarged spleen. After he blood counts came back extremely high we were sent to the hospital to start chemo that night for leukemia. Since then, he has been officially diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia). We are still waiting on the last test to confirm that he has a specific chromosome. If that is present, he will begin another type of Chemotherapy that targets this chromosome and should put him into a form of remission in a few months. He will stay on this the rest of his life. Both the chemo he is on now and the one he will most likely start are in pill form and have limited side effects. He shouldn't lose his hair. His stomach and intestines are upset somewhat now, but we don't think that is part of the new one. His WBC (white blood cell count) was at 244k last Monday and was 130K this morning. Once we get under 100k we get to go home, (for reference, normal is 5-10k).
We still have lots of decisions and questions.....treatment, working, homeschooling, etc.
It all seems a bit surreal still, but we have felt the love and prayers of so many sustaining us through the past week. Bryan has been a rock! He is so positive and full of gratitude and hope. He has been the strength to me. The Lord has truly carried us through this time.
So as we learn more, I'll post again.

Like I said the other night...anything, anything at all! My cell is 863-397-5619 and the house is 904-269-4484. Hopefully he won't have to be transferred, but if so we are here and our door is open...ALWAYS!
Wow. That IS surreal. Thanks for sharing the info tho, I wondered how it all came about. You are in our prayers. Good luck to you all.

Wow! That came as a bit of a shock. You're both in our prayers.
